The glue in the hardback version of Mr. Fisher’s Whiskers has failed. I was at my booth at a recent street fair and opened a copy to show someone, and the pages popped loose. Almost every one I’ve unwrapped since has the same problem—splitting down the inside of the spine. I quickly contacted the (American) printer and will be shipping the affected copies back for inspection and (hopefully) replacement. It makes me worried…how many of the ones I’ve sold have had this issue? Admittedly, a crafty parent can just use some hot or super glue and return the book to basic wholeness, but a children’s book should naturally be able to stand up to all sorts of abuse—and it reflects badly on an author selling her work if the book quickly disintegrates. Not one of the other titles (all printed in South Korea) has this issue, but I’d prefer not to have to order (and store) such big batches (2000 at a go).
